Even the most carefully monitored pet can have an emergency. Whether it’s an accident or sudden illness, our small animal hospital is equipped to help. We have an on-site lab, so test results are readily available. Our other diagnostic tools include digital x-ray and ultrasound.

There is a dedicated veterinarian and support staff on call 24 hours/day, 7 days a week, for all of our clients. Non-client emergencies will be handled on a case-by-case basis. Outside of regular office hours, please call the regular office number: 519.599.7777. You will be connected with our emergency answering operator, who will take your information and contact the on-call doctor immediately.

Here are some quick tips to help you deal with an emergency and get your pet to the clinic. These tips DO not replace a veterinarian’s care. Please call 519.599.7777 immediately for further assistance.

  • If your pet has a wound, apply firm, steady pressure to control bleeding. Do NOT apply anything (ointment, peroxide, and other substances) to the wound prior to seeing the veterinarian.
  • For trauma, cover your pet with a blanket, and place him/her on an appropriate size board and transport immediately to the clinic. Have someone call ahead to alert us to your emergency, so that the veterinarian and staff will be prepared.
  • For heat stroke, wrap your pet in cold, wet towels, and transport to the clinic immediately in an air conditioned vehicle.
  • Please note that any information presented here is NOT a substitute for a proper consultation and/or clinical examination of your pet by your veterinarian.
